In LA, color is part of the city's identity—the neon signs, sun-bleached billboards, and endless blue skies. Stripping it away forced me to see the city differently, focusing on the rhythm of light and shadow rather than the distractions of hue. The sharp lines of buildings, the haze rolling downtown, the way sunlight hits curves of Birds of Paradise — all became about contrast and texture. Shooting on film heightened this awareness, requiring careful exposure to balance LA’s extremes. In black and white, the city feels both timeless and raw, details distilled to pure form.
